Colorectal Cancer
Trust Adventist HealthCare Cancer Centers for advanced, comprehensive treatment of colon and rectal (colorectal) cancer.
Treatment Options
Your multidisciplinary cancer care team will create a personalized treatment plan that best fits the stage and location of the cancer. Your options may include:
- Chemotherapy – Medication that stops or slows the growth of cancer cells
- Palliative chemotherapy – Shrinks tumors that cause pain or pressure
- Radiation therapy – High-energy waves that destroy or damage cancer cells
Colon Cancer Surgery
You may have surgery to remove part or all of the colon and/or rectum. Depend on our staff to focus on your comfort and safety before, during and after your procedure.
Minimally Invasive Techniques
Whenever possible, we’ll use minimally invasive techniques. This means your surgeon will do the procedure through small incisions with tiny tools (laparoscopically) rather than using one large incision during traditional (open) surgery. You’ll benefit from less pain, scarring and risk of infection, as well as a faster recovery.
You may be a candidate for da Vinci® robotic-assisted surgery. A surgeon will use cameras to guide robotic instruments that are able to move more effectively than human hands alone.
Coordinated Care
Rely on your team to work together to make sure your care meets your needs every step of your journey – from diagnosis to support services to recovery.
