Thyroid Cancer
Receive excellent treatment for thyroid gland cancer from the specialists at Adventist HealthCare Cancer Centers.
Thyroid Cancer Surgery
Your treatment for thyroid cancer will begin with surgery to remove all or part of the remaining gland (thyroidectomy). Whenever possible, your surgeon will use minimally invasive techniques that reduce pain and recovery time.
After surgery, you may swallow a pill with radioactive iodine, which will destroy any remaining cancerous tissue in the thyroid. You’ll stay in the hospital for two days.
Medications
You may need to take daily thyroid hormone replacement pills. The medication replaces the work of your thyroid gland so you stay healthy. It may help prevent cancer from coming back.
